Zion’s Cry

Abba, when will You come and redeem Zion
When will You come and rescue Your firstborn
It’s a people
It’s a place
It’s Your heart laid bare

Abba, You see
I know You see Zion’s suffering
I know You do
I know You ache for her
Today, You long that Your beloved come home
to You

Abba, draw Your people home
Draw them near to You,
To Your beautiful heart

Abba, let me ache with You
Over Your people,
Over Your city
Over what has been a long time waiting

Surely You see
Surely You know
Surely You have not forgotten
You have not forsaken
The ones You love
The ones You always loved

Abba, bring redemption to Zion
Abba, reveal Yourself
Help the ones You greatly desire

Please visit and answer the deep cries
of broken, captive hearts
Please make Yourself known
Please send Your Spirit
To console lonely, hurting ones

Abba, please console and comfort Zion
In the midst of pain and tragedy and loss
Please comfort Your people

Thank You, Abba
For Your great goodness
For Your Kingdom coming
on behalf of Your name,
Your city, Your people

Abba, please come

Have you ever felt desperate in waiting
The knowledge that if He doesn’t come
There’s no way forward for you

Desperate, pressed beyond measure
Wondering if He’ll ever come

Will You come
You say You will
You said You would
You’ve done it before

O Abba, My Father
I need Your help today
I need Your help more than I did yesterday
I need Your life and Your light and Your hope
to break in and lead Me to the water that is living,
to the rock that is higher

Abba, make a way where there seems to be no way
Abba, make a way for Israel
Where there seems to be no safe place
Find Israel a home in You
Let Israel find their rest in You

Abba, You are good, You are kind
This is not in vain
Let my life and my losses
not be in vain
Let the ache of my heart be satisfied in You
Let the ache of Israel’s heart be satisfied in You

Thank you Abba
You are a good Abba

Begin Again

I am joining with Lisa Jo Baker for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s prompt is:

Begin

To begin again
To start fresh, anew
To look at things differently
To choose life wholeheartedly
To run hard again

Let’s start this race together
In order to finish it together
Take in your surroundings and set your pace
And know that you know
Above all else
He is with you
He is for you
His goodness surrounds you
And will keep you

Choose to set your mind to begin again
The twists and turns of life take us on a journey
We never could have imagined
And never could have prepared for

So when life takes a hard left
Hang on
Choose to trust
He hasn’t forgotten nor forsaken you

His everlasting love
For His firstborn people Israel
Is proof positive
That He is faithful
And He does not lie

G-d bless Israel today in her day of difficulty
And teach us to pray with you
And teach us to trust who you are to Israel
And in this, may we be upheld in our day of testing
As we stand with Israel in hers

Five Minute Friday

great G-d, Father to Israel

The battle rages
Another day,
The hatred rises

There is Israel
There is G-d
There is the Holy G-d of Israel

Shema Israel, Adonai Eloheinu, Adonai Echad
Hear, O Israel, The Lord our G-d, The Lord is One

There is one G-d and one Father, one Maker of all
He is one, His name is one
The Holy One of Israel
No other like Him
The Giver of life
The only one righteous

May Adonai who is the Giver of life
Fight for and protect lives all throughout Israel
May the people in the land He chose
Be saved and delivered today and this Shabbat

Abba, Your people perish
Please save them, please deliver Your firstborn
There is no other name above Your name

Baruch Atah Adonai Eloheinu Melech ha’Olam
Blessed are You O Lord G-d Kind of the universe

Please have mercy on Your people
Please give shalom this Shabbat

Thank You, O great G-d, King of the universe
