Abba’s Love

“Good morning, Abba! I need your help today,” little girl exclaimed as she jumped up on Abba’s lap for her regular morning time with Abba.

“Good morning, little girl. It’s great to see you! How are you today? What can I help you with?” Abba responded.

“I feel much better now that I’m sitting here with you. Abba, can you remind me why you came and got me and adopted me? I sometimes forget and get afraid that I might have to leave,” little girl said these things, a little bit fearful that Abba would be upset with her.

“Oh little girl,” Abba said with deep compassion in his eyes and in his heart, “Do you remember how much I said I loved you and how long we get to be together? I love you beyond your understanding. You can sit with me and experience my love for you day after day as long as you need and as long as you want. And you can do this every day forever because you’re my daughter forever and ever!”

Abba’s eyes were filled with delight and love for little girl. He hugged her while she sat in his lap. Little girl let go of her fear and experienced his delight in her and his love for her in a deeper way than ever before. She closed her eyes and just received Abba’s love. She knew this was the answer to all of her questions.

You’re Mine Forever

Little girl looked up into Abba’s eyes as she sat on his lap one more time.

“Abba, I love you. Thanks for coming and finding me and bringing me home with you and adopting me. I’m so glad I can sit with you and be with you and that you’re my father.”

“I love you too and I’m happy that you’re happy that you’re here with me. I love that you want to sit with me and be with me. And more than that, I love that you’re my daughter and I love being your father.”

Little girl just took it all in. After he said this to her she settled back down with her head pressed against his chest, looking out at the beautiful green hills. She sat there hoping that her time with Abba would never end.

“Little girl, you’re mine forever. Do you know that? You’re my beloved daughter forever and we’ll always be together. I’ll never ever leave you alone.”

Little girl could hardly take the words in. They seemed to have a life of their own. They felt like breath going into her being. She could hardly describe it. She felt like new life had entered her and she was so happy she could hardly contain herself.

“Thanks Abba!” she said as she jumped up and hugged Abba around the neck.

Never Alone

“Abba, where are you?” little girl called down the hallway as she tiptoed down the stairs hoping she’d hear his reply sooner than later.

“I’m here, little girl,” came his reply as he came to her and picked her up. “Are you okay?”

“Um, I’m okay now,” little girl responded with a question in her voice.

Abba knew little girl. Abba knew things weren’t okay. He knew she wasn’t okay. And he wasn’t okay with her not being okay.

“Little girl, tell me what’s wrong. I know something is wrong.”

“Abba, I’m scared. I was so scared that you had left because I had a dream where I couldn’t find you.”

“It’s okay. I’m here with you now. I’m with you. I’m never going to leave you, ever. Remember that I’m always with you. I will always be with you no matter what. Just call to me and I’ll be right there. I love you so much and I won’t leave you alone.”

Love Casts Out Fear

Little girl sat in Abba’s lap thinking about how glad she was to finally be here again. She had started to become weary as her old fears came up more than usual lately.

Every time she ran to Abba and sat in his lap, her fears ceased. She wished she could simply sit with him all the time so that she would never be overcome by fear again.

As little girl sat in Abba’s lap, it was as if he knew her thoughts.

“Little girl,” Abba said, causing her attention to turn back towards him.

“Yes, Abba,” little girl replied.

“Remember that I told you that you can sit with me anytime you want. You can sit with me all day and all night if you want.”

“Really? So I can sit with you even in the night?” little girl asked inquisitively.

“Of course you can. I’ll hold you and you can sleep,” Abba replied.

Little girl thought about this offer and she decided she would take him up on it. She knew she needed to remember that he was her father and that nothing could change that and that no one could take her away from him.

Settled

Little girl realized she really needed Abba today. She loved being with him everyday but today she knew she needed him. She felt fearful today as she awoke.

Little girl knew Abba wasn’t going to leave nor forget her. Her fear felt very real nonetheless.

She went to sit on Abba’s lap. Abba knew something was wrong. As little girl sat on his lap, he turned her face towards him and began to talk to her.

“I’m Abba. I’m your father now. I will never leave you nor forsake you. You are my little girl and I will protect you. I love you so much more than you know.”

As Abba spoke these words, little girl’s heart began to settle in to the truth and the reality of what these words meant for today and for the rest of her life.

Encountering Abba’s Heart

Little girl woke up with Abba’s song in her head. She loved his song. It had been in her head since she heard it that early morning a few days before.

Little girl had been learning more and more about his love daily. When she heard his song of love over her, it was made real to her in a way she hadn’t experienced before.

Little girl went to find Abba in his usual morning spot. As she approached him she looked into his eyes and they pierced her heart. Little girl ran and jumped into his arms. She buried her face in his chest, weeping as she felt his great love for her.

Abba just held her and let her cry. He loved little girl so much. He loved how she simply believed him and easily received his love for her daily.

dance - Version 2

Dancing to Abba’s Song

Little girl woke up extra early that Friday morning. She jumped out of bed and almost ran right for the chair where Abba sat every morning waiting for her to come and sit in his lap.

Before she ran to join him, she heard a beautiful sound she didn’t quite recognize at first. She stopped to wait and listen. Then she recognized what she was hearing and she was moved.

The beautiful sound was Abba’s voice as he sang a song of love. But it wasn’t just any song of love. It was a song of love he was singing about little girl. As he sang about how much he loved her, she thought her heart had skipped a beat. She was so full of joy she wanted to cry. She simply couldn’t contain everything she felt.

As she heard Abba’s voice, she jumped up and down and twirled around and danced a dance expressing the joy of being Abba’s child. Once again, little girl was overwhelmed with gratitude at all Abba had done for her.
