Abba picked little girl up and spun her around. Little girl loved being spun around by Abba. Abba was so happy today. Abba loved little girl so much and was so glad that she was his.

“Little girl, do you have any idea how much I love you?!” Abba exclaimed. “It’s wonderful having you in the family! You will always be my daughter.”

Little girl’s heart drank these words in as if they were water quenching a deep thirst on a very hot day. As she received his words and his affection, her heart came alive afresh.

Abba’s words were so much more than just words. His words were like power and life and love and joy and so many good and wonderful things. Abba’s words sunk deep inside little girl’s being. She basked in his words and just being with him. Little girl was so glad to be Abba’s daughter.

An Adventure with Abba

Little girl came and found Abba a little bit earlier than usual. She was excited about their day together. Abba had told little girl that they would be going on an adventure. She couldn’t wait to find out what they were going to do.

“Abba, what are we going to do today? I’m so excited,” exclaimed little girl.

“We’re going on an adventure that will help you understand how much I really love you,” Abba replied.

Little girl looked at him with inquisitive eyes. She couldn’t imagine what their adventure was going to be but she trusted him so she grabbed his hand to go wherever he went.

Abba looked down at little girl with those eyes filled with fire and life. His pleasure in her was so far beyond her understanding. Abba loved little girl so much.

Abba loved the journey day after day with little girl and he loved the way she trusted him. Despite everything, she trusted him and she was learning to trust him more and more every single day.

Abba comprehended why this was sometimes difficult for little girl but he had patience with her and knew she would fully overcome her fears one day. He knew that she would comprehend and walk in the perfect love that he had for her one day soon.

Day 22: Value

Little girl sat on the wood steps overlooking the grassy hills and trees right next to Abba. She had so many questions and so many thoughts and she knew Abba knew the answers to her questions.

Little girl woke up with the waves and the sea on her mind. She asked Abba all about it and when he spoke about these things it seemed like he felt the thunderous waves inside and out just like she did. This wasn’t a distant memory for Abba either. Little girl wondered about this. She didn’t realize that he would know exactly how she had felt.

Little girl asked questions. Abba looked at her, caring about every question and concern and every hope and fear in little girl’s heart. He valued her heart far beyond her comprehension. He seemed to know her so well and to care about every little detail that she cared about.

Little girl asked Abba about the waves and as Abba spoke every little bit of fear left her heart. She only had excitement left at the thoughts of the mighty waves she had seen and experienced in real life and in her dreams.

Day 16: Green

Little girl saw the butterfly through the picture window. She quickly raced outside to try and catch it. She wanted to catch a butterfly. She had come so close over and over again.

She barreled outside, running as fast as she could over the freshly mowed green grass. When she got close to where the butterfly had been sitting on a leaf, she slowed down and began to tiptoe towards the branch. She looked up and the butterfly was still there. She was so surprised she didn’t know what to do. She had forgotten her butterfly catcher in the house.

She stopped and simply stared at the beautiful teal-colored butterfly. It didn’t move an inch. In the distance she heard Abba coming towards her. She wouldn’t turn around to look at him for fear the butterfly would fly away.

Abba approached and as he did, the butterfly left the leaf. Little girl thought the butterfly was afraid yet this was not the case. The butterfly flew right up to Abba and landed on his shoulder. Little girl’s mouth was wide open, amazed and delighted at what had just happened.

Abba put his hand by his shoulder and the butterfly flew and sat right on his finger. Then Abba put his hand by little girl’s shoulder and the butterfly flew and landed on her shoulder. Little girl knew the butterfly was there and just stood still nearly holding her breath. She was so ecstatic.

In a moment the butterfly flew back to the leaf where it had started. Little girl was beyond overwhelmed. She sat down just below the leaf trying to catch her breath and take it all in. What a day it had been!

Day 9: Trust

Little girl heard someone say the word. Trust. It had been one of little girl’s most challenging words. The word itself wasn’t so difficult but the idea of it was. She pondered for a moment when Abba came up to her and took her hand.

In a flash, she remembered what had happened just yesterday: Abba had adopted her into his family! She was ecstatic when she thought about this. She turned her head to look up at Abba with her big brown eyes. “Abba, I love you,” she said. When he looked down at her, his love for her touched her heart again. “I love you too!” he said.

With this exchange, little girl realized she finally knew what trust was and that it was wonderful. She trusted Abba because he loved her so and she knew it. She felt it deep inside and she knew he was trustworthy.

Day by day, as little girl experienced Abba’s love, her heart learned to trust. She became trustworthy. Everything inside little girl was being made new. She was so thankful. She told Abba many times every day how thankful she was. He loved it when she did. Abba loved little girl.

Day 4: Embrace

Little girl had fallen fast asleep in Abba’s embrace. She had such a wonderful dream about the family she finally got to be a part of and Abba and following him around everywhere.

She had loved the dream so much that when she began to wake up she wasn’t sure if she wanted to wake up. She wondered for a moment if everything that she remembered had actually happened. As the question passed through her mind, she felt Abba’s embrace. She knew it was all real because she was still sitting in Abba’s lap.

She was sitting in Abba’s lap and she knew it was safest place in the whole world.

She was so excited to look at him and talk to him, but she waited and pretended to be asleep because she never wanted to leave Abba’s embrace. Abba knew she was pretending but waited patiently. He knew she hadn’t felt rested and safe in a long, long time.

Abba was in no hurry. He loved to care for this little one. He loved to care for all of his kids.

Alone
alone-600x600

You are Always With Me

Alone is without anyone
Walking, living and being without another
on this journey of life
or just for a moment

Sometimes alone feels lacking
Other times alone feels safe
Yet in reality
I am never alone
because You are always with me
You never leave nor forsake me

Whether I feel alone or not
I am never alone
I am not forsaken
I am not forgotten

This is all I really need to know
This is all Israel really needs to know

We are never alone
You are always with us
You are watching over us
and loving us all the time

No matter how alone we feel
We are not
We are never ever alone

You are always with us

Your Kindness

Your Kindness

Abba, are You really that kind and that good
Is what You say what You do

How much do You desire that I love You freely,
Without fear
and without shame
How much do You want me to run into You,
into Your arms when I am afraid
when darkness is too close to discern
How much comfort is available in Your heart for me

Abba, G-d of wonder, beautiful Servant
You have awed me with Your love
You have made Yourself known to this heart
that barely believed love was real

Your love, without conditions,
has shaped my heart
Your love has awakened real love
through which life and light can shine

How could I ever express my thankfulness to You
How could I ever give enough
My whole life is at Your dispense
and I make that choice again

For You are my life
You are my source
You are my strength
and You have become my salvation

No one compares
No darkness comprehends
Nothing can come close
to all that You have done for me

You truly are all I have
All my fountains are in You
There is none like You
Not one besides You
You heal and transform
the hearts of men
There is none who removes the blindness of eyes
and the hardness of heart
except You
You alone can soften this heart
You alone can help me see
You alone can heal this life

G-d who is worthy of all praise and thankfulness
G-d who created all things,
by Your will I exist,
for Your pleasure I was created
Therefore, I give it all back to You
I give all I am and all I have back to You

You are my Love,
You are my Life,
You are my Source,
and my Strength
You have become My salvation

This is Real Life

I am joining with Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s prompt is:

Real

FMF-Real-600x600

This is Real Life

You are more real than anything
I’ve ever tasted
You are more real than anything
I could ever have wanted
You are more real than anything
I desired
and all You desire is that I choose You, Your life, Your love
You are more real than all the things I hoped for, wanted, or sought out
Thank You for the essence of who You are, Your authentic love for me

You are more real than any love I’ve ever known
You love is great
Your kindness is unsearchable

G-d of glory
Abba of my heart
Creator of thunder and lightning
G-d of gods
King of the whole earth
Holy One of Israel
There is none like You

Chief among ten thousand
G-d of Abraham,
G-d of Isaac,
G-d of Jacob
You are the one G-d
The real G-d
The living One

The reality of who You are
Penetrating the essence of me
My soul laid bare before You
The reality of Your love
Breathing life into this weary soul
Life for death
Light for darkness
Love for abandonment

You are the beautiful God
Filled with life
There’s nothing more real than You
There’s nothing more authentic than living before You

There is none before You
There is none after You
You love me
I love You
This is real life
