Take Your Place

Take your place, my love
Follow after me

Are you weary?
Are you broken?
Are you unsure and insecure?
Come after Me
Run after Me, My love

I never expected you to be ready and righteous
When I came after you
I never expected you to know what I wanted from you
When I chased you down

Run after Me, My beloved, My fair one
Better than life is my love
Better than the finest wine
Am I

I await you
I will not tarry
I wait for you
My love
My dove
My fairest one

Today, run to me
This day, come to me
My love is better, greater, higher
Than you could ever imagine

A Hope Within

A hope within
A life to live
A soul full

Letting go of that which weakens,
diminishes and eventually dies
Taking hold of that which strengthens,
builds, and breathes new life

That which is given
I receive
That which is taken
I let go

Wisdom taking hold
Revelation pressing down
Waiting for response, movement, affirmation

I respond,
I look up to the mountains from where my help comes
My hands on my eyes
“Let me see, O God!”
My hands on my ears
“Please, let me hear your voice!”
“My heart, Abba, oh this heart,
Keep it Abba. Keep this heart close to you all of my days.
Let me always be close to you.
Let me know You
and let me comprehend your ways.”

Running on the Hills

Credit to @deskgram/i_just_fly_the_drone

Abba’s house came into sight and little girl’s feet went from a brisk gait to a near sprint as she approached home from a long day’s walk. She had walked up and down the beautiful rolling hills for hours that had seemed like days. She had encountered and learned many things that Abba had told her about.

From Abba’s porch when she had sat on Abba’s lap she had only seen the hills from a distance and the magnitude of their height and their depth had been lost on little girl. Of course, that was soon after she had met Abba and had begun to realize she was home and that Abba was faithful and would never forget her nor leave her alone.

As she saw home from that little distance after a day away, where she had taken in new and wonderful things, she also saw Abba. He was waiting for her just where she’d bid him goodbye. As she saw Him again and ran towards Him, she realized how much she had missed Him and how thankful she was to be back home.

Not Forgotten, Not Forsaken

Taking a moment away from Abba and little girl’s story.

All you want from me
is everything,
All you desire is that
I give you the core of me,
All that you long for in me
is surrender,
Complete wholehearted trust
in who you are
and who I am in you

Today afresh I surrender,
Today anew I give you my all,
All I am today
and all I hope to become,
I trust you in this place
of uncertainty and lack

Right here, right now
In the questions I trust you,
For you have not brought me this far
to abandon me,
You have not brought me to the mountain
to leave me alone

The test, the crux
Forgotten, forsaken?
Why so much heartache,
why so much loss
Chosen for this?
The cry of your brethren
How will you answer?
Adonai Eloheinu,
Please answer,
King of the whole earth,
Please answer

Surely you did not save your people
from complete destruction
to leave them alone,
Surely you did not bring them home
to forget them in this dry and weary land

Abba in heaven
Please come
Please answer
Please comfort the heart of Jerusalem
Please comfort the hearts of your people
Please answer the cries deep within
Abba, have mercy
Beautiful one, have mercy

Today I say yes again
I trust You fully,

I give you myself,
my life,
All I am is Yours
for You created me
You made me for Yourself

You are Creator and You are good
There is none like You
No one before You
No one after you

Everlasting Adonai
Who created Jacob,
Beloved Abba
Who formed Israel,
Who redeemed and called Israel by name
And said, You are Mine

Who is like you?
No one
There is not one higher,
Nor one greater
There is not one kinder
Beloved G-d and King

Remind Me Again

“Remind me again, Abba, why you love me so much,” little girl spoke confidently as she asked. Little girl was remembering the words of affirmation Abba had spoken to her time and time again. Her heart was beginning to remember the great love he had for her just when she needed it the most.

When little girl felt sad and alone, she thought about the reality of her adoption day and the truth of what Abba had done for her and what he had spoken to her. She reminded herself of who she really was. She recalled who she belonged to. She reminded herself of how far Abba had brought her and how much he loved her.

“I love you because you’re mine. You’re my little girl and I love that you want to be with me and learn from me. I also love that you love me back,” Abba answered little girl with joy in his heart over her life.

Encountering Abba’s Heart

Day 27: Perhaps

“Perhaps this isn’t just a dream,” thought little girl as she considered the wonderful life Abba had given to her.

“Perhaps this is real and this is what all the children have always been waiting for. Could it be?”

Little girl was amazed at how everything had changed so suddenly and so deeply within her. She was so thankful to Abba. She wanted all the children to experience what she had experienced.

Abba knew this was how little girl felt and loved her so much for caring for the other children. Abba cared for the other children too. He wanted them to be his too.

Little girl was so filled with life since she came to Abba’s. She knew this was just the beginning of the life she was made for.

This is Real Life

I am joining with Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s prompt is:

This is Real Life

You are more real than anything
I’ve ever tasted
You are more real than anything
I could ever have wanted
You are more real than anything
I desired
and all You desire is that I choose You, Your life, Your love
You are more real than all the things I hoped for, wanted, or sought out
Thank You for the essence of who You are, Your authentic love for me

You are more real than any love I’ve ever known
You love is great
Your kindness is unsearchable

G-d of glory
Abba of my heart
Creator of thunder and lightning
G-d of gods
King of the whole earth
Holy One of Israel
There is none like You

Chief among ten thousand
G-d of Abraham,
G-d of Isaac,
G-d of Jacob
You are the one G-d
The real G-d
The living One

The reality of who You are
Penetrating the essence of me
My soul laid bare before You
The reality of Your love
Breathing life into this weary soul
Life for death
Light for darkness
Love for abandonment

You are the beautiful God
Filled with life
There’s nothing more real than You
There’s nothing more authentic than living before You

There is none before You
There is none after You
You love me
I love You
This is real life

You Win

I am joining with Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s prompt is:

You open the floodgates of heaven
and You deluge my heart with light

You set Your desire upon me
You awaken this muted heart
You breathe and life comes forth
and all aligns

Your desire calls me to come near
I consider what the cost may be

Then I realize once again
Your mercy has stacked the deck
There’s no consideration
That can stand
against Your desire
and Your mercy
for me

You win again

You are more real than anything
Being caught up in Your mercy
causes my heart to stand in wonder
at Your great goodness
that I do not deserve
and I never could earn

The cost of love is everything
for You
and nothing for me
All I must bring
is my complete surrender
to the goodness of who You are

the One whom my soul desires

As things get busier and life remains challenging
Stopping and reflecting becomes the forgotten art
between myself and my Maker

In some seasons
loss seems synonymous with life
Death of a loved one,
And seeming forgottenness pervade my reality
Disappointments creep up in my mind
and cause my heart to remember
what may be better left forgotten

The difficulties of life show themselves stronger
than I used to think they would be

Yet, despite it all
And greater than I could have imagined
is You
You are My Maker, My Creator,
You are My Beautiful Friend,
The true and only real Companion of my soul
I found You, You found me
What more could I ever have wanted for
You are the One my soul desires
My Beautiful G-d, My Benevolent Maker

trustworthy Abba

I am joining with Kate Motaung for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

Today’s Prompt:

Take a moment
Ask Abba
What are You turning me towards
and what are You turning me away from?

Simple questions
waiting on
Simple answers
from a good, good Father

When we come like a child, there is no fear
When we come as little ones, there is nothing to be afraid of
Shame and condemnation flee far, far away from me
when I come with childlike trust, believing He is good

When He asks me to turn away from something,
it is because He always has my good in mind
He doesn’t desire to withhold from me
He only desires to give to me extravagantly

We can ask without fear
that He lead us and guide us
and trust He will do it
He will only lead us into that which is our good
and is for our best
that we might know Him more and more
that we might love him
and trust the goodness of His heart towards us

Take us deeper into Your heart, Abba
Bring us closer to You, Father
Turn us towards that which You desire for us
Turn us away from that which keeps us from You

What a wonderful Abba, what a wonderful G-d
