Being Together

lots of children - Version 2

“Abba, is it just you and me here for the rest of my life?” little girl asked, almost unaware she had asked this out loud.

Abba smiled and looked down at little girl as she stared at the sidewalk, playing a game as she walked.

“Are you tired of just you and me, little girl?” Abba asked, anticipating little girl’s response.

When Abba said this, little girl realized what she had said. She looked up at Abba’s eyes, tender and filled with love for her. Little girl felt a little bit bad about what she had just said. “No, no, no! I love to be with you, Abba. I just wondered if there were more in our family? I always wanted a team of brothers and sisters to play with and have fun with.”

Little girl looked down right after she said this, hoping she hadn’t said something wrong.

Abba bent down and picked her up. He knew little girl so well. He knew her desire for a family, a team that was on her side. He fully understood little girl’s heart. “I understand, little girl. I love you so much. I look forward to introducing you to more of your family one day soon. You have so many wonderful brothers and sisters! I can’t wait for you to meet them!”

Abba looked down at little girl while she twirled her long light brown locks. Little girl was thinking intently about something as she wrapped one piece of hair after another around her finger, staring at the ground as she did.

“Little girl, what are you thinking about?”

Little girl looked up at Abba a bit startled, having almost forgotten he was right there the whole time.

“I’m just missing some of my friends and brothers and sisters from before,” little girl said with an unsettled look on her face.

Little girl began to apologize to Abba for feeling sad when he interrupted her and picked her up, “I understand, little girl. I understand missing friends and family.” Abba looked at little girl as he said this and she saw something in his eyes she had never seen before. It was only for a moment but little girl saw a glimpse of the very emotions she had been feeling. She saw sadness somewhere deep inside Abba’s eyes.

Little girl wondered about this. Her curiosity was stirred, “Abba, are you sad?”

“I miss my family too. I miss my children so much.”

“Where are you other children? I have brothers and sisters?! How many other children do you have, Abba? Who are they? Where did they go?” Little girl asked excitedly but with concern. She was excited to have more brothers and sisters but she wondered why they weren’t at Abba’s house with her.

“Little girl, that’s a long story. I’ll share with you sometime soon about Jacob and his father Isaac and his grandfather Abraham. I’ll share with you about my son Israel,” Abba answered with a glint of hope in his eyes and joy in his voice. Little girl could see the love Abba had for these other children when he spoke of them.

“Please tell me, Abba. Please tell me about your other children that you miss. I want to know about my brothers and sisters. I want them to come home so I can meet them and play with them too,” little girl’s excitement and anticipation about this newfound understanding overtook the sadness she had felt just moments before.

“I’ll tell you about them soon, little girl, very soon.”

A New Adventure

I am joining with for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes about a word. No extreme editing; no worrying about perfect grammar, font, or punctuation. Unscripted. Unedited. Real.

The prompt is:

A New Adventure

It’s been quite some time since Abba and little girl shared their adventures. Time passes so quickly yet there is so much to tell. Day by day little girl finds life with Abba wonderful and easier than she ever thought possible.

Abba and little girl took a long adventure to foreign lands. Abba had waited patiently for the right time to bring little girl on this first trip of many. Abba loved little girl so much. He loved her for exactly who she was and he loved her for wanting to be with him and simply follow him wherever he went. He knew the time was right to take little girl on a journey of many to come.

Abba wanted to show little girl his family and where he came from. He wanted little girl to understand his family better since it was now her family too. He knew little girl loved him and he knew she would love his family too.

This was the beginning of a new adventure with little girl and Abba.

He loved her so much. She loved him too. He was so good to her, so kind to her. Little girl loved her Abba and her new family.

Little girl had always dreamed of being a princess and someone’s daughter. She pictured herself wearing a beautiful gown of purple with a tiara that fit her perfectly. She imagined her beautiful castle, but even more she always imagined her wonderful family.

Abba knew little girl’s heart’s desires. He surprised her with the purple gown of her dreams and a tiara as well one morning. It was the morning of her adoption.

Little girl loved her new beautiful purple gown. She couldn’t wait for everyone to see her wonderful Abba. As they got ready to go to the adoption ceremony, he took her hand in his and they walked together. This was the day she’d always been waiting for: the day of her adoption. The day she officially became a daughter of the king.

Hope beyond Hope

Abba, I Belong to You 3

Day 3: Captured

Little girl was absolutely captured
when Abba said she was a part of his family
Her heart skipped a beat
and she was so terribly excited
She was so terribly excited
to finally find her family

In all of her five years,
She had wanted a family

She couldn’t help
but to hope beyond hope
That she would finally
Find the place
She could call home,
The place where
She never would have to leave again
She hoped that everything
would be different now

As she thought for a moment,
She started to get a little afraid
that this was another promise
that wasn’t true
Her little heart
went from excitement and joy
to fear

Right in that moment,
Abba looked down at her
He saw the fear fill her gaze
He sat down right beside her
and he turned his attention to her

Little girl was delighted and so scared
All at the same time.
Abba comprehended just how she felt
He knew little girl very well
He felt her fear
and he felt her joy

He took her face in his hands
and looked right into her big brown eyes
He locked eyes with her
In one single moment,
All of the fear left her heart
In just a moment,
as she saw who he was
and she saw his great love for her,
Her heart settled
She knew
He was telling her the truth
The fear left
From one heartbeat to the next

Hope filled little girl’s heart again
She wrapped her arms around Abba’s neck
He picked her up
and sat her in his lap
She leaned back upon his chest
and he told her
that she was going to be okay
She believed him

She fell asleep in his lap
She dreamed about her new family
She dreamed about Abba
She dreamed about following him around
everywhere he went

Her heart was captured afresh
